On December 15, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) signed a contract on the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Iran’s northern regions this winter, as well as a confidentiality agreement on negotiations for a 5-year gas supply contract.

Referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Office, Trend News reported that Azerbaijan is expected to start supplying gas to Iran using the interstate infrastructure with an annual capacity of 500m cubic meters of gas. The sides plan to expand the capacity due to the compressor stations.

The gas price has not been reported.
