Informal meeting of the Presidents of 7 CIS member states — Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan started at the Ak-Bulak hotel, 40 kilometers east of Almaty.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev informed that leaders will discuss security and economic integration issues, ITAR TASS reports. He proposed to touch upon regional security and exchange opinions on the measures of resisting the emerging threats. Nazarbayev also recalled that recent global events involve CIS members, including 2009 UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen and launch of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline.

RF President Dmitry Medvedev said that there is no fixed agenda, “though Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan intended to meet and discuss the plan on common economic space formation, considering recently signed treaty on the Customs Union.”
