Armenian economy recession for H1 2009 was reported at 16.3%. Construction sector recorded the largest decease of 54.5%, whereas industrial sector – 11.5%, and agricultural – 2.5%.

Inflation for the reporting period made 0.3%. Official unemployment rate also increased by 10.3% totaling 84.1 thousand people. There is a considerable decline in trade turnover. In H1 2009, Armenian foreign trade turnover fell by 31.5% amounting $1.66bln. Import dropped by 27.5% totaling to $1.378bln, whereas export — by 45.9% reaching $281m.

Foreign trade deficit in January-June 2009 made a bit more than $1bln.
