It is for the first time that a Turkish representative, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, has been elected President of the CE Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu (born 5 February 1968, Alanya, Turkey) is a Turkish politician representing Antalya Province in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. First elected to Parliament in the 2002 general election, he is a founding member of the Justice and Development (AK) Party.
He will replace Lluís Maria de Puig, and hold the post for 2 years.
