YEREVAN. – The American national currency continues to depreciate at Armenia’s financial market.  

The dollar’s average exchange rate, against the Armenian dram (AMD), comprised AMD 402.48/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange on Wednesday; this is a 0.15-percent—or an AMD 0.60—drop from the previous trading session on Tuesday. 

Wednesday’s sales totaled $9.55 million at the stock exchange.

There are no significant changes at the cash foreign currency market of Armenia, as compared with Tuesday. It is jus that, now, there are more exchange offices in the country that sell the US dollar at AMD 404/$1. Just like on Tuesday, the exchange offices still buy it at AMD 401/$1, or at AMD 402/$1. In all likelihood, the banks are assuming that the American national currency has exhausted its pre-New Year devaluation potential.
