ETCHMIADZIN. – The Armenian Apostolic Church on Thursday celebrates Candlemas, The Coming of the Son of God into the Temple.

The start of this festivity was given on Wednesday evening, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. At the end of the evening divine service at the Holy Etchmiadzin Mother Cathedral, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II presided over a pre-festivity ceremony.

Subsequently, the traditional Candlemas bonfire was lit outside the Mother See, with hundreds of pilgrims on hand, and the students from Gevorkian Theological Seminary performed church chants and national songs.
