As 4.000 pilots German Lufthansa airline went on a 4-day strike (including cargo and low-budget subsidiary), the company cancelled about 800 flights that affected nearly 10.000 passengers. One of the largest European air companies, Lufthansa says numerous long-haul flights to U.S. were nixed because of the strike staged by Cockpit Pilots’ union.

Carrying out around 1.800 flights a day, the company was forced to re-schedule them to Monday, including directions to Asia, Africa and South America.

The damage caused to the company by strike is estimated at $34 million a day.

To recall, Lufthansa left Armenian market in March, 2009.
