Nabucco project can be run and has right to exist, the Head of European Commission Representation in Russia Mark Franko considers.

He supposes that gas can be supplied from Azerbaijan, Iran and other countries, including Egypt. As to Azerbaijan-Russia gas agreement for 2010, Franko points out these countries cooperate on the other project, so Azerbaijan can easily join Nabucco.

Agreement on Nabucco is signed by Turkey, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. Germany also joins the project, but being a non-transit country, it does not sign any agreement. Iran takes interest in the project involvement as gas supplier with US opposing it.

Nabucco project is aimed at supplying gas from the Caspian region to EU countries that will enable more independence from Russia. The gas main construction is planned to be launched in 2011, with first delivery starting in 2014.

The maximal capacity of gas main is 31 bln c.m. a year.
