In 2009, 9.3% GDP growth was registered in Azerbaijan, 1news.az reported, referring to Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade, who spoke in Parliament.

“Azerbaijan’s GDP totaled 34.6bn manat (U.S. $43.25bn) – 9.3% GDP growth as compared with 2008. The oil sector registered 3.2% GDP growth,” the Azeri Premier said.

Inflation fell by 1.5% last year in Azerbaijan last year.

“The average monthly wages increased by 8.6% up to 298 manats, and the average monthly pension 100.4 manats,” Rasizade said.

According to him, 11% poverty level was registered in Azerbaijan in 2009 – a 2.2% decrease as compared with 2008.
