Georgian citizens will be exempted from paying transit tax entering Turkey till May 1, 2010, Georgian Ambassador to Armenia Gregory Tabatadze said at March 17 press conference.

At the direction of Turkish Transport and Communication Minister, the transit fee for all vehicles with foreign or temporary numberplates and closed cars through Turkish territory will remain unchanged regardless their weight, Tabatadze informed.

According to him, the fee for motor vehicles with cargo is €1.200, whereas for empty ones — €600.

The Turkish side accounted for the increasing traffic of minibuses, modified for cargo transfer. Starting May 1, conventional norms will be applied to Georgian citizens.
