YEREVAN. – The Association Agreements signed only with Georgia and Moldova, without Armenia and Ukraine, are not that important for EU, head of Regional Studies Center said.

Political analyst Richard Giragosian believes Armenia and EU are working on a new document, but this has nothing to do with Vilnius summit.

“A 1-1.5 page document indicating Armenia’s willingness to carry out reforms is likely to be signed in Vilnius. President Sargsyan will travel to Vilnius and he must do or sign something,” Giragosian told reporters on Tuesday.

He is convinced that Europe used the language of blackmail with Ukraine, using tactics aimed at setting free former PM Yulia Tymoshenko.  

Richard Giragosian noted that Ukraine’s association is a victory for EU and target for Russia.

“Unlike Armenia, Ukraine has many wise oligarchs who are supporting the Association Agreement. Armenia’s oligarchs stand for Customs Union,” he emphasized.
