Madrid principles on Karabakh conflict settlement provide no guarantees, that impeaches effectiveness of Armenian-Azerbaijani rapprochement, expert Manvel Sargsyan told NEWS.am.

“These principles are totally vague, enabling to assume there are no guarantees for the conflict to be settled by means of talks and mutual compromises,” Sargsyan said.

According to the expert, despite the repeated statements of Azerbaijan on reinforcement of the army and military potential, does not seem to be a country capable of unleashing the war without assistance of world powers. He reckons Azeri warlike statements demonstrate diplomatic inconsistency, as through political maneuvers and blackmailing Azerbaijan aims at weakening Armenia’s position in the talks.

Despite Azerbaijan’s reluctance, OSCE MG as the most optimal mediator of conflict resolution will keep on functioning with results to be made public by fall 2009.
