Lower House of Belgian Parliament banned the wearing of hijabs in public places. 136 deputies unanimously voted for the ban on Islamic burqa, with two abstentions.
The ban of veils, that do not allow the wearer to be identified, will be imposed in public places, including streets, educational institutions, restaurants, gyms, Vesti reports.
Those who violate the law will face a fine of 25 euros or a jail sentence of 7 days.
The law should be approved by Belgian senators.
