Georgian opposition began protests in Tbilisi against declaration of May 6 a Day of Police. According to Kavkaz press, opposition supporters marched to the Interior Ministry house, where the police parade had to take place at midday.

According to the First Caucasian TV channel, police cordon prevents oppositionists to approach the building. The opposition members consider that May 6, celebrated as a St. George’s Day cannot be declared a Police Day.

Moreover, the protestors say that the same day a year ago, police fired with plastic bullets at the demonstrators near Tbilisi police station, when they were trying to leap over the fence. As a result two protestors lost eyes. “It is aweless to celebrate Day of Police today,” one of the opposition leaders Eka Beseliya told journalists.
