On August 5, 2009 Deputy Head of the Russian General Staff Colonel General Anatoly Nogovitsin stated Georgia is getting ready for a new war. According to him, the rearmamaent process in the Georgian army suggests this conclusion, Utro. Ru reports.

Nogovitsin said the rearmament process is not open as before, but is secretly going on. “We are very much concerned over this,” he said.

He also stated Russia is not going to deploy large military forces and tracking systems on the border with Georgia, as it is not necessity now.

General Nogovitsin stated Georgia had prepared the attack against South Ossetia since 2004. “According to the trophy documents at the disposal of the General Staff we received comprehensive information that it was Georgia that had prepared the aggression since 2004 and unleased the war”.
