Azerbaijan and Turkey will lift visa regime in the near future, said Chief of Azerbaijani presidential administration's public-political department Ali Hasanov, Cihan news agency reports.

According to him, Baku hails positive Turkey-Azerbaijan reconciliation in visa relaxation issues and the problem will be tackled soon.

“Both countries’ foreign offices work on the matter and I believe the issue will be settled in the near future,” Ali Hasanov emphasized.

He noted that the matter concerns both visa regime lifting and military strategic cooperation. “Armenia and Russia are strategic partners, why should Azerbaijan and Turkey not cooperate as well?” Hasanov wonders.

Azerbaijani official stressed Ankara’s special participation in the settlement of Karabakh conflict. He considers that recently Turkey raises the issue in international arena more frequently, adding that Baku expected same from Ankara. “We have expected these moves from Ankara. Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Abdullah Gul, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and other officials state in the international scene that Armenian border will not open until Azerbaijan’s problem is solved and they keep their word. We are grateful to all of them. Azerbaijani nation awaited for this,” Hasanov concluded.
