Today RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, accompanied by freedom fighters’ relatives, visited the Yerablur Military Cemetery on the occasion of the Day of Missing in Action. He laid a wreath at the memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the memorials to Vazgen Sargsyan and General Andranik.
Not a single missing person has been found this year, the Minister said. “Each year we work to know of the fate of at least few people,” he added.
Seyran Ohanyan stated that rather serious work to strengthen and improve the Armenian army is under way now. Relevant measures to improve battle duty and strengthen position are implemented.
“We can expect intrusions any moment, but the previous cases, as well as the recent incident, show that, if necessary, our soldiers can fight bravely and even die, defending our positions,” he stated.
According to the information by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the number of missing Armenians and Azerbaijanis during the Karabakh war makes 4,000-5,000.
