The world renowned Armenian-French chansonnier Charles Aznavour submitted his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
On May 6, 2009, RA President Serzh Sargsyan appointed Aznavour Armenian Ambassador to Switzerland and RA Permanent Representative in the UN Office at Geneva. At first Aznavour declined the Armenian President’s offer to start a diplomatic career, but later on accepted it.
