On August 5, RF President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree appointing Mikhail Zurabov RF Ambassador to Ukraine, that is a week before he declared he would not assign an ambassador to Kiev.

However, the decree was signed same day, as Ukrainian side confirmed the candidature. “Russian side has completed all internal state procedures on the appointment,” RF MFA reported adding that Zurabov will assume his duties once he presents credentials to President Yushchenko.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry affirms that terms of Zurabov arrival depend on Russian side only.
