Iran and Syria constitute a strong front and the West needs the countries a lot, said President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the joint press conference with Presidnet of Syria Bashar al Assad on August 19, Irna reports.

“Nowadays, the world understands that Western theories are in a deadlock and really need Iran's and Syria's cooperation and support,” Ahmadinejad declared.

“I am sure that hence the door into international community will be wide open both for Iran and Syria,” Al Assad said having congratulated his Iranian counterpart with the re-election.

Iranian media reported that, during his visit, President of Syria is planing to discuss with Ahmadinejad the bilateral relations, regional problems as well as negotiate on release of opposition members who were arrested during the protest rallies held after the presidential elections in Iran.
