The Aravot newspaper held an interview with Naira Zohrabyan, Chairman of the Armenian Parliament’s Standing Committee on European Integration.
“We have two main tasks to be carried out within the framework of the PACE October session: restoration of a sub-committee on Nagorno-Karabakh and election of Swedish MP Goran Lindblad as a co-rapporteur on Armenia…
“First, Lindblad should be elected as an MP, as parliamentary elections in Sweden are held in autumn. The Turkish-Azerbaijani community of Sweden will certainly turn to agitation and do its utmost to push their lobbyist to the parliament. I believe that Lindblad’s appointment as a co-rapporteur on Armenia by the Monitoring Committee is a part of PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu’s program. It is clear that Turkish-Azerbaijani lobbyist Lindblad cannot be unbiased towards Armenia, thus our delegation should express its apprehensions. As to Cavusoglu’s deliberate attempts to restore sub-committee on Nagorno-Karabakh within PACE, our stance remains unchanged – the Karabakh issue cannot be shifted to PACE format and our delegation is taking precise steps not to permit it,” she said.
