Turkish Defense Minster Vecdi Gonul made a real “discovery” during agitation campaign of the constitutional reforms.

He stressed importance of the referendum, saying that Europeans learnt how to wash from Turks. According to him, Turkish people also informed Europeans of human rights defenders.

 “Sweden’s King Carl was defeated by Russians and found shelter in Turkey where he lived for a long period of time. In Turkey he saw a person named Kadi who was protecting homeless and rights of those suffering from lawlessness. The King applied his knowledge after he returned to Sweden. Besides, Turks taught Europeans to wash up. Christians only washed with holy water at birth and did not wash any more. Thus, perfume was so poplar in France. The King saw that washing is useful and told about it to Swedish people, as soon as he returned to the Motherland,” the Turkish Defense Minister said, speaking in Izmir.
