YEREVAN. – The demonstrators, who were detained early Saturday morning from Baghramyan Avenue in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, have been released (PHOTOS).

The Police news service informed the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

A report was prepared on these detained activists and, subsequently, they were released.

On Friday evening, members of the “No to Plunder” initiative, which fights against the recent electricity price hike in the country, closed off Baghramyan Avenue and started a sit-in.

Since Saturday at 5am, the Police repeatedly called on the protesters to open the boulevard. The activists, however, stood on the avenue with a human chain.

But at 5:30am, the law enforcement officers formed a human chain, and they forced the activists out of the boulevard onto the sidewalk on both sides. 

A total 48 activists were detained during the clash.
