Chairman of Turkish Parliament Mehmet Ali Sahin arrived in Canada to participate in the meeting of G-20 Speakers of Parliament in Ottawa. He met with Chairman of Canadian Senate and expressed Turkey’s concerns over the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Canadian Parliament in 2004.

Sahin stressed during 1915 events both the Armenian and Turkish nations suffered losses. However, the historians should discuss the matter, as the parliaments are not places to discuss historical events, Turkish Anadolu agency reports.

The Charmin of Canadian Senate considered signing of Armenia-Turkey Protocols a progressive step, emphasizing the sides should always look ahead.
