YEREVAN. – The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted to consider the lawsuit, which the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party had filed back in 2010 against the Armenian authorities.

At the time, the lawsuit was filed on behalf of the opposition Armenian National Movement, whose legal successor is the ANC.

Secretary of the ANC National Assembly Faction, Aram Manukyan, on Wednesday told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The lawsuit is with respect to the capital city Yerevan Municipality’s denial of the ANC’s petitions to hold rallies and marches.

“After the courts in Armenia, we petitioned to the European Court,” Manukyan said. “Two days ago, we received the decision that our case has been accepted for consideration. This is a very good precedent.”
