YEREVAN. – There may be schools of international relations and diplomacy, but there can be no political school of a political party.

MP Ashot Aghababyan, who is one of the persons standing in the origins of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), stated about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted this as he reflected on the recent announcement that RPA has decided to found a political school.

“I believe, except for public schools, we [i.e. Armenia] don’t need to create a party school,” Aghababyan said. “There was such a school during the [period of the] Communists; there can’t be a political school.

“My logic lets [me] say that [political] parties can’t have schools; that’s dictatorship. This is not the communist society.”

The MP noted that many people today join a political party due to petty interests, whereas all political parties have their own political direction and platforms.

“A [political] party shall be gotten rid of people who become members by being motivated by interests,” Ashot Aghababyan concluded.
