One hundred and sixty-nine types of license are currently in effect in Armenia, which is one of the main reasons why Armenia does not rank high in the Doing Business rating. To meet the WB-set requirements, the RA Government decided to bring the number of license types down to 96. A relevant bill has been submitted to the RA Parliament.
Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan said that some types of activities will not have to be licensed. Among them are veterinary, mobile communication and customs brokerage. In some cases, the Government combined license types, but it is too early to speak of any actual reduction in the number of license types.
Under another decision e-licenses will be issued, which will help businessmen working in Armenian regions.
