Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu touched upon the Armenian-Turkey reconciliation in his speech at Harvard University, Turkish Zaman daily reports.

Davutoglu said the Armenia-Turkey Protocols on establishing diplomatic relations signed in Zurich in October 2009 are still in force. According to him, the documents created political difficulties both in Turkey and Armenia.

The Turkish FM stressed Turkey seeks improvement of relations with Armenians as the two nations historically lived side by side.  He noted Armenians should not equate their past to the Holocaust and draw parallel with the obliteration of the Jewish people in Europe.

Davutoglu emphasized Turkey is ready to discuss tragic events of 1915, however he warned Armenians not to tell lop-sided stories. "Do not close the doors that opened for establishing peace, and do not blame Turkey for this," he said.

"If Armenia really stands for peace and stability in the Caucasus, it should withdraw from the "occupied" Azerbaijani territories," he said.
