The Turkish Government has decided to amend 35 laws as its initial efforts to harmonize the country’s legislation with the constitutional amendments approved on September 12, Today’s Zaman reports. Specifically, the Government plans the adoption of seven new laws and amendments to 28 laws currently in effect. One of the most significant amendments deals with the Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors.

The Turkish Government decided that the constitutional amendments require necessary amendments to over 200 laws. The Government decided to make the most significant amendments as part of the first harmonization package.
