According to the information at the Haykakan zhamanak daily’s disposal, former Vice Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, member of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Arevik Petrosyan is eager to become a member of RA Constitutional Court. The point is another member of RA Constitutional Court Henrik Danielyan marks his 70th anniversary on November 7 and consequently, his tenure of office is completed. The former Vice Speaker uses all the “clans” to be appointed to the vacant post.  Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has the lone power to appoint the CC member, which means Arevik Petrisyan should either leave Prosperous Armenia party or temporarily suspend its membership to the PAP.

Interestingly, a CC member should be in office by the age of 70. However, as it is clear, Petrosyan does not have this ability and before handing in her resignation she was sharply rebuked by the PAP leader.
