Switzerland is sure Armenia and Turkey should do everything possible for further political dialogue and cooperation. Yerevan and Ankara displayed courage to the normalization process within the recent several years, Swiss Foreign Ministry told NEWS.am.
“We hope the normalization process between the two countries will be underway. Switzerland backs the process,” the Swiss Foreign Ministry said.
As reported previously, on October 10, 2009 Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers signed protocols on the normalization of relation between Yerevan and Ankara. The documents were to be ratified by the two states’ parliaments. However, Turkey set Karabakh conflict resolution as a precondition for reconciliation. In April 2010, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan halted the ratification process of Armenia-Turkey accords. He stated the process will resume, as soon as Turkish political forces are ready to move forward.
