Before leaving for Moscow on June 1, 2009, Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu stated, that Turkey is not concerned with Azerbaijan-Russia convergence, the Turkish ‘Trend’ press service reports.

“We do not perceive the bilateral relations of our neighbor-countries as an alert. On the contrary, as the relations with neighbors consolidate, the scope of our common interests will widen”, the Foreign Minister indicated.

Davutoglu also emphasized, that in terms of energy policy the attitude of Turkey and Russia is not alternative for each other. On the other hand, according to him, the relations of Turkey and Azerbaijan are long standing and do not rule out the possiblity of cooperation with other countries. Arriving to Moscow on his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov official invitation, Davutoglu described the Russian-Turkish relations as “multilateral partnership”.
