According to the recent data, the quake in Indonesia killed 42 people, injured more than 400 and 40 others missing. Indonesian seismologists recorded tremors of 7.5 magnitude, Chinese Sinkhua reports. 3000 houses were destructed and severely damaged on Java Island as a result. Earth shocks were also felt in western regions of the country, tsunami alert was issued. The rescuers are working in the site to find survivors.

On September 2, 2009 Armenian Survey for Seismic Protection registered 8-9 point tremors in the quake epicenter, NEWS.am reported. Local tsunami warning was issued soon after the earthquake but was withdrawn in an hour.

Presently thousands of inhabitants are evacuated from their residences.
