“We want to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. But the point is whether we know which its borders are. Karabakh must have borders. On December 10, 1991 Karabakh proclaimed independence.  In May 1994, the parties signed a ceasefire agreement, providing the truce should be maintained in all the liberated regions. What borders and what concessions are being discussed now?” prominent commander of the Nagorno-Karabakh War, Colonel-General Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan (Komandos) told a press conference on November 3.

‘I am for the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh, as a number of friendly states, like Greece, Lebanon and Syria may also recognize Karabakh. But who will do it, if Armenia has failed to recognize it so far?”

He stressed as a serviceman he recognizes Karabakh within borders formed in 1994 and does not imagine it without Kalbajar and Lachin corridors.

As for the Karabakh peace process, Komandos said the conflict should be resolved within Minsk Group format. “However, OSCE Minsk Group recent statements are not beneficial for Armenia. They contain such phrases like “occupied territories”, “Stepanakert/Khankendi” and “NKR de facto authorities.” On the whole, I do not see ways to the conflict resolution,” the General concluded.
