Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has visited the Bagratashen checkpoint to get acquainted with the problems on the spot, as well as with the work under way.
A NEWS.am correspondent reports that the President chaired a meeting attended by Head of the Bagratashen checkpoint Karen Grigoryan and Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan.
Specifically, Khachatryan pointed out the need for bringing border checkpoints to conformity with international standards.
Talking to NEWS.am, the citizens using the checkpoint’s services noted inconveniencies. Particularly, special lanes for trucks and cars are designed on the Georgian side, whereas on the Armenian side both trucks and cars have to use one lane. In summer, the line may be 10 to 15 kilometers long.
