YEREVAN. - Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Davit Tonoyan, on Friday received German Ambassador to Armenia Bernard Matthias Kiesler. 

The meeting aimed to deepen the Armenian-German cooperation in the sphere of emergency situations, as well as create a new platform of regional cooperation in the sphere.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Minister Tonoyan noted that Germany was one of the first countries to support Armenia in the establishment of the sphere of emergency situations.

This support launched the active cooperation between the two countries in the aforementioned sphere, this also resulting in the memorandum to be signed between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia (MES) and federal technical bureau of the German Ministry of Interior.

The Minister stressed that the sphere of emergency situations has a humanitarian nature, this allowing to use the entire potential for regional cooperation.

The sides also discussed the possible mechanisms and programs of exchange of experience, Germany’s support to the organization of voluntary rescue movements in Armenia, etc.

Ambassador Kiesler, for his part, underscored the importance of the support to Germany in borrowing the experience of the MES Crisis Management National Center.

Concluding the meeting, the sides agreed to deepen the existing cooperation and work towards expanding the geographic boundaries of cooperation.
