YEREVAN. - Minister of Justice of Armenia, Arpine Hovhannisyan, who is on the 3rd line of the candidate list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), hopes that no more incidents will take place during the campaign.
To the journalists’ question as to how she assesses the recent incidents involving the RPA members, Hovhannisyan noted: “I would like to assure that straining of personal relations—which is perhaps normal against the backdrop of this tension—may very often lead to such situations. But I hope they will not recur and people will be able to perceive this as a competition and not a platform for settling their personal accounts.”
It is already several days the situation has been tense in Ararat province. First scuffle took place between the RPA candidates Murad Muradyan and Arayik Gevorgyan in the town of Masis, this being followed by shootings in Artashat on Saturday.
