YEREVAN. - Doctors of“Food Provider”Artur Sargsyan offered him several times to move to a normal hospital, which he refused to do.
Spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Eduard Sharmazanov, told the aforementioned after the RPA Executive Body session on Thursday.
“As far as I am aware, during his disease Artur Sargsyan was offered several times by his doctors to move to a normal hospital but he refused. As far as I know, this was recorded. I have already learnt about the statement of Artur Sargsyan’s attorneys: it contains doubts related to the doctors and causes of his death. I am not a doctor and cannot say what caused his death, but since the attorneys insist on an expert examination, we don’t see any problem here. If the expert examination establishes that unconsciencious actions were carried out and a law was violated, those guilty will immediately be held liable,”the Spokesperson said.
He also added that certain forces are trying to speculate the circumstance of Artur Sargsyan’s death during the election campaign in order to win dividends.
“Apparently, I said that I am sorry. Of course, there are people who are more sorry, however I cannot but mention that these are not the relatives and friends but those who are trying to take advantage of the incident in order to win pre-election dividends. This is unacceptable. Nevertheless, it is a fact that there has been an offer to move him to hospital and that he turned it down. This has been recorded by the Prosecutor General’s Office.”
Artur Sargsyan, who was charged with aiding the Sasna Tsrer armed group, was released from prison on December 31, 2016, since he had an illness that was incompatible with imprisonment.
On February 9, however, he was arrested yet again.
Subsequently, Sargsyan went on hunger strike, and demanded that his preventive measure of arrest be commuted.
A few days ago, and with a written guarantee by several dozen MPs, he was released from prison and immediately taken to hospital.
Several days ago, however, he left the hospital on his own volition.
But his health grew worse on Wednesday evening. He was taken to “Armenia” Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, but he did not regain consciousness after this operation.
The Sasna Tsrer armed group had taken over a police patrol regiment building in Yerevan, taken hostages, but later surrendered, in July 2016.
On July 26, Artur Sargsyan had broken through a police wall with a vehicle loaded with food, and delivered food to the members of this armed group.
