YEREVAN. - Program coordinator of Union of Informed Citizens NGO, Daniel Ioannisyan, has become the target of law enforcement authorities after the scandalous revelation of the pre-election activity of No 114 school and kindergarten principals.

Since Tuesday, the law enforcement institutions have organized a leak of information regarding the personal life of Ioannisyan and his family through Iravunk newspaper, thus settling scores with him for revealing the fact that the principals of No 114 school and kindergarten are gathering votes in favor of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), this, according to Ioannisyan, being an apparent violation of law.

The coorindator told Armenian News – NEWS.am that he has turned to the Special Investigation Service demanding to reveal the Police and Investigative Committee workers, who have published that information.

“This is an expression of revenge by the law enforcement authorities in connection with which I have applied to the Special Investigation Service. And if the examination is not carried out properly, I will apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECoHR). We expect the Special Investigation Service to find the Police or Investigative Committee workers, who passed that information to the newspaper and hold liable both the providers and publishers.”

On Wednesday, the Union of Informed Citizens NGO released excerpts of recordings, where the principals confess which territorial institution, headquarters or administrative body of the RPA gave directions to them.

Ioannisyan also noted that the quality of impeccable elections promised by President Serzh Sargsyan has already been called into doubt after these recordings, the attack organized by the law enforcement authorities against him being indicative of this.

According to him, these actions by the police and other law enforcement authorities proved that they are working for the authorities and not the law, and that if the authorities don’t like the activity of a certain citizen, they start punishing him.  

“Nothing new has happened in reality, It was proved that the administrative resource is abused, which was known before as well, but there were no facts then. It was also proved that the law enforcement authorities work for the authorities,” Ioannisyan said.
