YEREVAN. – Armenia will make a US$1.8-million request from the World Bank, as a guarantee for satellite monitoring of agricultural lands, said Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan, at a press conference on Thursday.

As per the minister, these funds will be used for creating a geographic information system (GIS).

“In this case, we will be able to clearly know where and what lands are developed at us [in Armenia],” added Arakelyan. “Now, we learn about it on the spot by calling [by telephone] the heads of the rural administration.”
