YEREVAN. – The European Union will allocate €10 million to Armenia for drip irrigation of the Ararat Valley, noted Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan, at a press conference on Thursday. 

He added that these funds will be used also to build an infrastructure for an irrigation reservoir.

In his words, the Armenian government will endeavor to make budget allocations to co-fund this project. Otherwise, it will get underway in the coming year.

“At any rate, this project is beneficial also for the budget,” added the minister. “The more effective are the water costs, state subsidies for irrigation are that much less.”
