YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan does not want to make any compromise, and the assurances, “concede, then we will discuss,” are a deception.

Former Defense Minister of Armenia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Saturday. In his words, the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict will not be resolved any time soon.

“There is not a precondition that the Artsakh issue be resolved,” noted Harutyunyan. “Today, the status quo is maintained at Azerbaijan’s fault, and there is no precondition and situation for us to say Azerbaijan wants the conflict resolved through compromise.”

As per the ex-defense minister of Armenia, in the case of the Karabakh conflict, however, no country can force any of the parties to this conflict to resolve it by the use of force.

“Now, what should the Armenian side do?” asked Vagharshak Harutyunyan and responded himself: “What we have done since [19]91. We need to continue by creating a powerful army. Also, [we need] to be able to compensate by way of foreign policy. Our soldiers are more prepared, and this is the main guarantee that there would be no full-scale war.”
