YEREVAN. - The parliamentary elections, which took place Sunday are already history, Tsarukyan bloc noted in a statement issued Monday.

The statement also says: “We presented our programs, future actions and priorities in all the residencies of the entire republic for a month.  We have been maximally honest towards our compatriots both in terms of identifying different issues existing in our country and thinking of the ways to their solution.

Today we won the confidence vote and support of over 400,000 of our compatriots. Believe us, we highly appreciate each vote won, which obliges us to do everything within our competences to advance and develop our country.

We will remain committed to the principles adopted by us, continuing to always stay open and frank towards our people.  We are well aware of the seriousness of all the challenges which our country faces and will do everything within our competences to solve them.

We will never stop our active and direct communication with the people and will never divide our people into those voted for us and who did not. We have only one homeland, whose development is the task of all of us. May God protect all of us.”

CEC has received the respective data from all of the 2,009 election precincts in the country.

Accordingly, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is in a considerable lead, with 49.12 percent of votes tallied.

Yelk [Way Out] Bloc – 7.77% (122,049 votes)

Free Democrats Party – 0.94% (14,746)

Armenian Revival Party – 3.71% (58,277)

Tsaurkyan Bloc – 27.32% (428,965)

Congress [Party]-PPA [People’s Party of Armenia] Bloc – 1.65% (25,975)

Republican Party of Armenia – 49.12% (771,247)

Communist Party of Armenia – 0.75% (11,745)

Ohanyan-Raffi - Oskanian Bloc – 2.7% (32,504)

Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party – 6.57% (103,173)

According to the CEC preliminary data, the voter turnout in the parliamentary election was 60.93 percent.

Five political parties and four blocs ran for parliament on Sunday. Political parties have to get 5 percent of votes, whereas the blocs need 7 percent to be elected to the National Assembly of Armenia.
