YEREVAN. - Knowledge and wisdom unite the Armenian nation (PHOTOS).

Co-fouder of Aurora humanitarian initiative, President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Vartan Gregorian, who is also the Selecting Committee member of the Aurora Prize 2017, said the aforementioned, speaking during the second day of interactive discussions “Aurora Dialogues” held at the Matenadaran Ancient Manuscripts Institute of Armenia.

In his words, Matenadaran was chosen as a venue for holding the event because of its historic significance.

According to him, the institute is a house of memories, wisdom and knowledge, as well as a depository of the knowledge and longevity of the Armenian people.

The Aurora Prize ceremony will be held in Yerevan on Sunday evening. The nominees are Fartuun Adan and Ilwad Elman, who are the founders of Elman Center of Peace and Human Rights in Somalia, Jamilia Afghani, Chairperson of the Noor Educational and Capacity Development Organization, Tom Catena, surgeon of Mother of Mercy Hospital in Sudan’s Nuba mountains, Muhammed Darwish, Medical Doctor at the Madaya Field Hospital, and doctor Denis Mukwege, Gynecological Surgeon and Founder of the Panzi Hospital of Congo.

One of them will become the winner of Aurora Prize 2017 and will receive a $100,000 grant for implementing his or her activity, as well as a $1 million award, which will give him or her a unique opportunity to continue the kindness “race.”
