YEREVAN. – We need to see whether the circumstances for the creation of an anticorruption body can contribute to the effectiveness of the fight against corruption.
Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP, former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan, on Tuesday told the aforementioned to reporters at Parliament.
He noted this reflecting on the Armenian government decision to form an anticorruption agency based on the Ethics Committee for Senior Officials.
“But I’m confident that the institutional independence guarantees given to this body will be to the extent that we will be able to effectively fight against corruption,” said the ex-attorney general. “It could be more restraining.”
