Nominations for the 2018 Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity have started. 

Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity was founded in 2015 by Aurora Humanitarian Initiative on behalf of Armenian Genocide survivors and in gratitude to their saviors. 

The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative seeks to empower modern-day saviors to offer life and hope to those in urgent need of basic humanitarian aid, and thus continue the cycle of giving internationally. 

An Aurora Prize Laureate is honored each year between 2015 and 2023 (in remembrance of the eight years of the Armenian Genocide 1915-1923) with a US$100,000 grant as well as the unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by nominating organizations that inspired their work for a US$1,000,000 award.

The deadline for submitting 2018 Aurora Prize nominations is September 8, 2017.

As reported earlier, the second annual ceremony of Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity was held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan on May 28, the anniversary day of the First Republic of Armenia.  

Numerous guests, including Marguerite Barankitse, the inaugural 2016 Laureate of the Aurora Prize, addressed at the event.

And Dr. Tom Catena (USA), Surgeon at the Mother of Mercy Hospital in the Nuba Mountains, in Sudan, was announced the 2017 Laureate of the Aurora Prize.
