YEREVAN. – The Acting Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Levon Mkrtchyan, visited the French University in Armenia (UFAR). 

Also, Mkrtchyan presented his ministry’s highest award, the Gold Commemorative Medal, to several  UFAR representatives, in recognition of their great contribution to the establishment of this university and in the education sector. French Ambassador Jean-François Charpentier also was on hand at this event. 

The acting minister stressed that the UFAR’s track-record is useful and important in the higher education reforms in Armenia. In Mkrtchyan’s words, this university serves also as a La Francophonie center in Armenia. 

“French civilization is precious and of high value to us [Armenians],” he stated, in particular. 

Ambassador Charpentier, in turn, noted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Armenia.

“The most successful and pronounced event in French-Armenian relations is the existence of the French University in Armenia,” he noted. 

The diplomat added that France stands ready to continue assisting in the education of Armenia’s youth.
