YEREVAN. -- A direct flight between Astana and Yerevan operated by Scat Airlines opened on Wednesday.

The launching ceremony was held at Yerevan's Zvartnots airport. The flight will be operated each Wednesday and Saturday.

Zarmine Zeituntsyan, Chairman of the State Tourism Committee, noted the importance of the new air link with friendly Kazakhstan.

“We hope that mutual tourist trips will help us to better know our countries. We, in turn, are happy to welcome new Kazakhstan tourists to Armenia,” she said.

Vice President of Scat Airlines Alexander Sytnik said they are glad to fly to such a beautiful country as Armenia.

“We hope that it will attract many Kazakhstanis - both for business trips and for recreation,” he added.
