YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, on Monday received Kazakh Ambassador Timur Urazaev.

First, the Parliament speaker expressed the hope that the ambassador will continue his activities directed to the development and deepening of the relations between the two countries. Also he lauded Armenian-Kazakh relations and the friendship laid on their basis.

The NA President touched upon the works of the formation of Armenia-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the sixth parliament of Armenia and expressed confidence that this  group will play a significant role in the strengthening of Armenian-Kazakh parliamentary cooperation.

During the talk, Babloyan highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy within international platforms, assessed the work with Kazakh colleagues in various organizations, and stressed that the potential in this domain is big and the parties can more closely cooperate in matters of bilateral interest.

Also, speaker of the Armenian parliament highlighted the role of the Eurasian Economic Union—which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—in the cooperation and development of economic relations between the two countries, and in the implementation of the joint projects.

Ambassador Urazaev, for his part, noted that Kazakhstan plans to develop relations with Armenia in all domains. 

Also, he touched upon the parliamentary election that was held in Armenia in April, and stated that the observers highly assessed the organizational level of this voting.

In addition, the diplomat thanked the members of Armenia-Kazakhstan Friendship Group that functioned in the previous Armenian parliament, expressed readiness to work with members of the newly forming group, to discuss issues of bilateral interest and elaborate new ways of enhancing cooperation.
