Two days of flash floods killed at least 33 people, more than 50 were reported missing in northwestern Turkey.

Istanbul was heavily hit by torrential rains (see photo session): the flooding struck certain city districts, as well as several major roads. In addition, the highway linking Greece and Bulgaria is temporarily closed. According to Istanbul Municipality, the city was flooded by 235 liters of gushing waters per square meter within last two days.

On September 9, the rescuers detected 11 bodies of the victims. Presently hundreds of people from the affected areas are evacuated by firemen and rescuers.
